Fun. A Saturday morning, at a pool by the river. A nice, easy short race, with more grinners than grimacers. That was in the “Jedermann” race, for everybody. The “Sprint” race was considerably more competitive and serious (they warmed up!!). Glad I wasn’t in that one.
The Waltriathlon in Brunsbüttel is a really enjoyable race. It’s one of the best pools I’ve seen, right on the Elbe River, and the course follows the river as well. Cheery supporters and volunteers. Well organised and run. Good vibe. A lot of positives, and I’m happy I switched from the sprint (last year) to the jedermann (this year).
I managed to finish sixth, including first in my age group. But that’s not really saying much, as all the serious 40+ guys were in the sprint race. Still, I’m proud. Thanks, Brunsbüttel. It was really good fun.
